Collaborative torn-and-repatched drawing

The initial idea of this drawing was to create a corner of a room (a spatial expression as required) by the different tonal patches torn from the group's drawings. The final drawing was not a pragmatic expression of space but rather a very powerful graphic gesture. I realised that tonal works though can help produce a sense of depth, hence space, could not accomplish its job in such pragmatic manner in which this drawing was done.

Concertina Presentation

All of the drawings became relatively more alive as they were placed in frames and allowed to stand up. This act of framing drawing, I found, adds value to the drawing and force the observer to respect the drawings more and hence appreciate them in greater depth.

Week 1 drawings

Drawing to me is quite a new field in which I have had very little experience of. The kind of material and techniques that I was to use to produce these drawing were completely new to me and getting them to behave the way I would have found comfortatble using was quite a challenge. However, learnign new techniques and medium led to new way of presenting and representing ideas and, perhaps, new perceptions of ideas.

First week models

Sometimes the austere appeareance of certain things can be deceitful as to the amount of effort and craftmanship involved behind them. These seemingly simple models were in fact one of the hardest to make, to me at least, as there is no extraneous elements to draw the observers' attention away from the craftmanship and the very form of the models.
